progress…
Yesterday the studios held a progress critique that was intended to explore the building systems and structural ideas within our mixed use designs. Yet the critique turned into a much more in-depth investigation into our overarching conceptual and urban ideas. Here are some of the drawings and renderings I produced for the review. I left the review with many new ideas to incorporate including making the Santa Monica elevation more porous in the housing clusters.

I tried some new ideas since midterm to try to foster a connection between the podium level and the housing. This included incorporating above ground parking to meet the needs of the retail and metro user as well as lifting the housing from the podium to create an interstitial park that the public as well as the housing can take advantage of. This interstitial park space still needs a lot of work and programming in order for it to become a successful space. More images to come soon. I will try to keep updating my progress and study models as often as I can. I have produced many study models of this project up to this point as well but am currently missing a means of photographing them. Thanks for looking, feedback is welcome.
